If the virus – or whoever engineered it – doesn’t get to her first.

Review for the Carolina Variant

Tess, our main character, is a down on her luck lawyer for low income clients. She’s broke but is too caring and kind to change. Then she finds a document exposing those responsible for a deadly virus – it’s at this point she becomes the loose end – and an assassin has been hired to clean up the mess.

This is a medical thriller about a genetically engineered virus that’s wreaking havoc on Atlanta. A little too close to home but none the less a well told story weaving both horrific consequences and a believable plot. Hats off for turning this topic on its ear.

Brooke French is a recovering lawyer turned writer who lives with her husband and sons between Atlanta and Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. She spends most of her days gleefully researching and writing about fatal viruses, terrorism, and murder.
