Review of The Baba Yaga Mask

I didn’t quite understand the lost grandmother angle until I realized this ornery jokester was leading the granddaughters on a journey of self discovery. I loved the dual timeline, bouncing between present day and the grandmother’s past in Ukraine during World War 2. The story is rich in historical fiction and folklore, presented in a way to make you feel like you’re in the middle of the action. Having a spunky grandmother myself, I couldn’t help but cheer for Vira and I think you will too.

About the Author

Author and professional editor Kris Spisak has been spotlighted in Writer’s Digest and The Huffington Post for her work to helping other writers. Her non-fiction books include Get a Grip on Your Grammar: 250 Writing and Editing Reminders for the Curious or Confused, The Novel Editing Workbook, and The Family Story Workbook. Spisak’s background and her own family experience in the Ukrainian diaspora add weight to her fiction debut, The Baba Yaga Mask.
