This book took me on an emotional ride while loving every twist and turn. Charlie, now the star of a TV renovation show, returns to her hometown to fix up her childhood home for her mom, Betty, who’s suffering from dementia. But this isn’t your typical home makeover. Betty was a hoarder, and every pile of junk hides a piece of the past—and secrets that change everything.

As Charlie sorts through the mess, she’s also untangling decades of pain, guilt, and unanswered questions. Why didn’t her dad protect her? What really happened in that house? Watching her work toward forgiveness felt raw and real. This story explores the emotional baggage passed down through generations, showing that choices often come from wounds we’ll never understand. It’s heartfelt, thought-provoking, and full of unexpected turns. The surprise ending was the perfect cherry on top. Definitely a book club-worthy read.
