Venus Bixby is at it again. Switched at Death delivers everything you want in a cozy mystery: small-town charm, quirky characters, a suspiciously dead mayor, and yes, cats. Honestly, what more could you ask for?

Set during the most wonderful time of the year, the story kicks off with a tree lighting that goes up in flames—literally. Mayor Simon drops dead, and while everyone’s still humming carols, the whispers start: was it a heart attack… or something more sinister? Spoiler alert: it’s the latter.

Venus is busy launching her adorably named kitty daycare, Cats and Their Cradle, until her bakery gets dragged into the drama, she trades cookies for clues. Alongside her snarky sister Sherry, Venus unravels a web of secrets that’ll make you side-eye your neighbor’s fruitcake.

The pace is snappy, the humor light, and the clues cleverly tucked in between cups of cocoa and feline shenanigans. It’s a festive, furball-filled whodunnit. If you’re in the mood for a little murder with your mistletoe, and like mysteries served with sass and sugar, Switched at Death might just be your next binge-read. About The Author

Valerie Taylor lives in Connecticut and considers herself a typical “average Jane.” She might remind you of a reclusive neighbor who fancies herself a novelist. Unlike many of her peers whom she admires, she does not have a degree in literature. But she is the award-winning author of the romantic comedy trilogy: What’s Not Said, What’s Not True, and What’s Not Lost. The roots of those three novels, as well as the first two books in the Venus Bixby Mystery series—A Whale of a Murderand Switched at Death—most likely took hold during her early years watching Carol Burnett, Jack Benny, Red Skelton, and The Twilight Zone. Her love of oldies music stems from hours listening and dancing to Elvis Presley and The Beatles, and being in the Bobby Darin fan club.
