Growing up in the Midwest, we longed for summer vacation but not the heat, humidity, or mosquitos! Add those to the fact that poor Lolo is down on her luck in every aspect of her life. She’s stuck in summer school (the worst fate ever) with a teacher who hates her. Her grandpa has passed away and his dog now lives with a foster family. Her grandma is sad – so Lolo decides to get the dog back. How hard can it be? He’s just across the lake! For dog lovers out there, this is a must-read. For kids already bored with summer vacation – check this one out. It’s been a day or two since I was in school (wink) but even I can appreciate a great book when I read it – no matter the age.
About the Author
Polly Farquhar is the author of Itch. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Ohio State University, and her short stories for grown-ups have been published in literary magazines. Polly is also the recipient of multiple Individual Artist Grants from the Ohio Arts Council. She resides with her husband and daughters in the Columbus, Ohio area. Originally from upstate New York, her favorite place to canoe is the Adirondacks.
