Prequel to the Review

I’ve been aware of the dangers of food since 2008, namely aspartame, when diagnosed with a brain tumor. Amazingly enough, my health turned around with aspartame eliminated from my life. True story. Don’t get me started on the government agency blessing us with the “safe” addition of chemical poison to our food. Well, my thoughts have been further changed by this book. Full disclaimer: I prefer sweets over steak. I’m still a work in progress but am inspired once again. Thank you, Miranda.

We had a foreign exchange student from Europe. Without changing the kind of food and amount she ate, she gained twenty pounds in her first month. What?! The American and European ideas of processing food are polar opposites. Read about the author’s experience and see for yourself.

Review of The Mighty Fork

Healing food, organic, vitamins, gluten, autoimmune, dead food, depression – and the list goes on. Within the pages of this book, you will learn new ways of thinking about food, forgetting some things you thought were good, and accepting that nature made it perfect and doesn’t need help from humans, processing plants, and chemicals.

Written with first-hand knowledge of what it means to turn your life around with food, this book is a testament to recovery and well-being. Using food as medicine, the author dives into everything edible including dirt. Mmmm – before you chalk her up as a nutjob, she makes very valid points (and does not eat dirt). Wait until you read about supplements (insert jaw drop). I have issues with chemical additives, namely, pesticides, and this book hammers that point home. Then there is sauerkraut, kefir, and bone broth – spoiler alert: they’re good for your body.

Each chapter features a thought, backed with evidence, the author’s personal story, and recipes as needed. Weekly menu ideas coupled with shopping lists and recipes comprise half of the book. It’s a fast read that will plant the seed of healing in your mind and will be there when you’re ready to truly heal. Amazing. Truly amazing.
